Compassionate support helping patients feel understood daily.
Heather, APRN
Heather J. Hoyt, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Sunflower Mental Wellness, LLC. She currently practices in Pratt and will begin seeing patients at the Hutchinson location in August 2026. Heather has worked in mental health for more than 15 years and has practiced as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse for the past 2 years.
Heather earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wichita State University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University. She is board certified as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Her nursing background includes experience at Ascension Via Christi, travel nursing in rural communities, ICU nursing, inpatient psychiatry, addictions treatment, and Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTFs). This diverse experience has given her a strong understanding of the emotional, psychological, and physical challenges patients and families face across many stages of life and levels of care.
Heather provides outpatient psychiatric care for patients ages 6 and older and treats a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, autism spectrum disorders, and bipolar disorder. Her clinical interests include perinatal mental health, trauma-informed care, child and adolescent psychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry.
She believes every patient deserves compassionate, collaborative, and individualized care that supports their mental and emotional well-being while providing evidence-based treatment options and education. Heather values patient-centered care and believes individuals should be active participants in their treatment plans. She strives to create an environment where patients feel heard, respected, supported, and empowered throughout their mental health journey.
Heather was inspired to pursue psychiatry after witnessing the impact psychiatric illness had on members of her own family and seeing firsthand the emotional challenges that accompany mental health struggles.
Those experiences strengthened her passion for providing compassionate care and helping individuals and families navigate difficult situations with understanding and hope.
One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is building meaningful therapeutic relationships and helping patients make lasting improvements in their mental health and quality of life. She enjoys supporting patients and families through education, encouragement, and ongoing care while watching individuals gain confidence, stability, and wellness over time.
Outside of work, Heather enjoys spending time with her family, attending concerts, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Telehealth appointments are available upon request. She accepts most commercial insurance plans, Medicare, and KanCare Sunflower.
